The 5-Minute Midday Hip Reset for Desk Days
Issue 9 of the Desk Mobility Brief. This week's theme is short guided stretches you can do between meetings — about five to fifteen minutes, calm and spoken, including when you are offline. Today's focus is the front of the hips after a morning of sitting.
1. Standing hip flexor lunge (1 minute 30 seconds). Step one foot back, keep the back heel lifted, and shift forward gently until you feel a stretch in the front of the back hip. Hold for 45 seconds each side.
2. Seated figure-four (1 minute 30 seconds). Sit, cross one ankle over the opposite knee and hinge forward slightly. Hold for 45 seconds each side.
3. Standing forward fold (1 minute). Soft knees, fold from the hips, let the head hang. Sway gently.
4. Pelvic tilts standing (1 minute). Hands on hips, tip the pelvis forward and back slowly about 8 times.
Looking ahead
If your afternoons feel stiff, put this reset on the calendar as a recurring five-minute block. Short and repeatable beats a long stretch you skip.
Safety note
Stay in a comfortable range. Stop for sharp pain, numbness or dizziness, and check with a qualified health professional if you have an existing condition.
